Project Description

Customer Type: University

Industry: Education

PROBLEM

The main entrance to a university admissions office needed an ADA-compliant door operator system. The customer requested to maintain the aesthetics of the high profile space and the fire rating of a pair of labeled doors and hardware. The customer wanted the hardware to fade away into the oak millwork of the entrance.

SOLUTION

The aluminum header case for the ADA-compliant door operator was made in a custom continuous case to span the full width of the door opening and sidelights. This provided a clean sight line across the opening and served as a means to conceal the electrical power and control wiring into the unit. The header case was clad in red oak and finished to match the existing millwork.
